민사고 - KMLA Proves Top American Prep Schools

It is fairly accepted that the Korean Minjok Leadership Academy(KMLA) is one of the best private high schools in Korea, providing various kinds of high-quality education for its students. For the last ten years, KMLA has produced lots of intelligent students who fulfilled their dreams to enter many prestigious universities in the United States, including the Ivy League universities. However, whereas a certain number of institutions measured the rankings of American private high schools, no research of the sort has ever included foreign high schools. Therefore, even though our school has made outstanding accomplishments, no official statistics was made to compare our school with the other top-notch prep schools in the United States.

     

Considering this, the Minjok Herald decided to calculate our own school ranking compared to the famous private high schools in America. For this research, we measured our ranking using the criteria given in the website, www.prepreview.com. We first gathered the basic statistical data of our school’s most recent graduates, including various test scores and admission results of the 8th wave seniors. Then, we applied the methods that were used to rank the American private high schools in order to find the relative position among the top fifty high schools such as Milton Academy and Phillips Andover.

     

Among those fifty high schools, Collegiate School, where 46% of the total graduates were admitted to the Ivy League colleges, ranked first. Twenty of the 8th wave seniors who went through our International program enrolled into the Ivy League universities, which is approximately 43.5% of the total forty six who graduated this February. Comparing this admissions result to those of other fifty high schools, surprisingly, our school was included among the top three high schools! Moreover, the average SAT scores of the 8th wave seniors was approximately 1535 for the old SAT. Comparing this with the average SAT scores of the other American schools exhibited on the website, we found that our school was actually the highest in the group.

     

Although the small research we conducted is not official and may have some mistakes or procedural errors, we could see that our school was actually superior to large number of the world-wide famous American high schools in many aspects. Minjok Herald is proud to declare such results and urges fellow students to do their best in order to maintain the prestige that our seniors have established before us.
